I don't get many opportunities to use studio strobes in an outdoor setting. A big thanks to my friend Shawn for helping me out with this setup. (In frame: Alysha Maha)

Smile, and look at me
I've been shooting a lot of graduations lately. And while I'd much rather be a portrait photographer rather than an event photographer.. shooting these kinds of events forces me to stretch my skills, to make the best picture in situations where the light is much less than ideal.

20 years
This has become somewhat of an annual tradition for me. I began going out on the night of September 11th, in the year 2018. Since then I've made it my mission to capture the tribute lights from a different perspective each year. There is nothing quite like being by the water and viewing the city on a cool September evening. I'll be doing this for as long as those lights continue to shine, and as long as I am able. Quince
It's not everyday you get hired to shoot a quinceanera. This one was certainly a one of a kind experience for me.

Thriving
I was taking a walk around midtown the other day, and it really does look like NYC is back. The crowds have returned and businesses are open. People are out and about.. doing all the things they did before 2020. It's a nice feeling.. and there is a sense of normalcy (at least for now).

Spring
I've never felt that I was particularly good at taking photos of plants and nature. Spring time always brings opportunities to try different things. In this part of the world cherry blossoms appear for only a few short weeks, never to be seen again until the following year.

The view from where I am
It's just been a cold cold winter, with more snow than I've seen in years. But of course there's a certain beauty to it. I hope to find myself shooting in the middle of snowstorm one day. (Location: Bowne Park, Flushing, NY)

Jersey City
It is sort of my annual tradition to head out on the night of September 11th, to take some shots of the Tribute in Light. I grew up looking at those towers, and even after 19 years.. it's still so unbelievable that they are gone.

Night
Fives months in, and still no end in sight. Some say the worst is yet to come. This is Queensboro Plaza subway station, which on a normal evening would be completely packed.

Not over yet
It has been about two months since New York City has been "on pause". As politicians scramble to reopen America as soon as possible.. I don't think we're out of the woods yet. This virus is here to stay for a while longer. Take care everyone.
