Lower West Side

Grabbing my camera and hitting the city streets once again, after a long hiatus.  Cloudy days really are the best for daytime photography.

Christmas, Fulton St.

I found another Christmas tree while taking walk down in the Seaport district.  I would have to say that this is one of the nicer ones in the city.

Golden Hour

A view of New York Harbor at sunset.  Regardless of what's going on in your life, these are the moments that are not forgotten.

Maine

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.  It is truly one of the best places to visit in the Fall.  When you spend most of your days around the city, there is nothing like the fresh clean air and view of the ocean.  I'm glad I had the chance to visit a couple years ago.

Clouds and Light

On this 21st year after the 9/11 attacks, I went out in the evening just like I always do.  Let's just say it was really difficult being out there, having to handle a camera in one hand and an umbrella in another.  I have not seen this many clouds above the city in a while.  One WTC is nowhere to be seen, and the tribute lights got lost in the clouds.  Nevertheless a spectacular view.. one that I will never get tired of seeing.

This place

I love going on photo walks, whether it's by myself or with others.  It gives me an opportunity to see what I would not normally see.  For me, that's what photography is about.   I seldom come here anymore.. though I used to spend a lot of time in this part of town years ago.  I miss this stuff.

Port Jervis

When I was younger I heard a story about a place where you could go to, and you would be standing in three states simultaneously (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania).  It turned out not to be a myth.  Here at this sacred spot along the Delaware River is the Tri-States Monument.

The home office

Fun fact: June 8th is National Ghostbusters Day.  It has now been 38 years since the release of the original film, which was a favorite of mine growing up.  The fire station in Tribeca was recently gifted with a full-size replica of the sign used in the movie.

Documentary

Here are two people that I have a lot of respect for, and whom I'm glad I can call friends.  Shawn has been such a positive influence in my photography journey.  Alexandria is a model whom I've worked with on many occasions, but who clearly has many other talents as well.  They made a documentary together called "Mentally Acceptable", which is essentially a series of conversations, from various persons, on the topic of mental health.  It's not yet available to the public, but when it is, I think everyone should watch it.

8 million

Spring time brings more opportunities to shoot in the great outdoors.  I came across a farm in the middle of New Jersey where someone planted eight million tulips.  Apparently everyone in NY/NJ all decided to visit on the same day.  Having random people in the background is my biggest pet peeve in photography, but we find a way to make it work.
